They came out of a conversation Clarissa had with herself (yes, seriously!).
She asked herself: why do my high school test prep students feel more comfortable talking to me about a lot of stuff that they're not ready to talk to their parents about?
The result is what she believes she's able to offer her kids, simply because she's 'not mom.'
